Ecency Leveled Up Waves as dCity Paid Out Its Last Claimdrop

Frontends and builders moved fast this week: @ecency shipped Ecency 4.4.0 with a round of Waves improvements — a combined short-post feed, clearer stats on each card, and a calmer scroll — while @thecrazygm wrapped dCity’s 70,000 HIVE claimdrop and the end of its SIM-token era. Builders also released Anther and gopherd, two new Golang toolkits for developers wiring apps to Hive. Net stake still ran the other way: about 1.9 million HIVE powered down versus 708,000 up.

This is HiveToday, a weekly recap of the Hive blockchain ecosystem.

New here? Hive uses delegated proof-of-stake. You elect witnesses to produce blocks. You can post, vote, and tip without paying gas on every click. The chain has been live since March 2020.

This Week on Hive

@ecency rolled out Ecency 4.4.0 across three posts from Tuesday through Friday, saving the Waves refresh for the Friday headline. Ecency described the release as leveling up Waves — its existing short-post format — not launching it for the first time: one combined For you timeline, stats on every card, server-side mutes, and no autoplay. The same day, @hivebuzz flagged Hive Power Up Day on July 1.

@gungunkrishu walked players through what @thecrazygm’s final dCity claimdrop meant on the ground — useful context after 70,000 HIVE went out the door. Witness @howo’s gopherd Golang library paired with Anther on the builder-tooling front.

@sagarkothari88 kept HiveSuite and HiveReactKit on a daily cadence — design system glow-up, post composer refinements, wallet and poll UX, and reward-display tweaks. @inertia showed how Hyperion can feed agentic analysis of chain data — timely as more builders talk about AI-assisted workflows on Hive.

Video kept moving too. 3Speak TV shipped a YouTube-style desktop watch layout and multi-embed support on GitHub. hive.blog picked up cleaner 3Speak player embeds and started showing HBD print-rate haircuts on pending payout breakdowns — small UI fixes that matter when print rate sits at zero.

On governance: five Decentralized Hive Fund (DHF) proposals remain funded above the return line, down from six last week. Ecency and PeakD sustainability posts from issue #87 no longer clear the vote threshold. The HBD Stabilizer still leads at 12,000 HBD per day. For how HBD debt and print rate work, see issue #75.

Development Pulse

hive.blog: hive/denser now renders 3Speak embeds as clean players and applies the HBD print-rate haircut when showing pending payout breakdowns.

hivemind: Now exposes how pending rewards are calculated — frontends can show more accurate payout estimates.

Core node: hive/hive fixed long-standing unit-test problems. Witnesses still run Hard Fork 28 (mostly v1.28.3). No new hard fork on mainnet.

3Speak: Mantequilla-Soft merged a YouTube-style desktop watch page, unified action buttons, multi-embed support, and embed-studio publish previews across the TV and checks repos.

HiveDevs feed: @thecrazygm Anther (Golang toolkit) · @howo gopherd (Golang protocol library) · @inertia Hyperion agents · @pibara Merg-E spec v0.3 · @sagarkothari88 HiveSuite daily updates

Project Spotlights

Ecency: @ecency Ecency 4.4.0 — Waves feed improvements (combined timeline, on-card stats, mute filtering, no autoplay) plus a faster web app. Also: owning your content when the platform cannot delete you.

dCity / Anther / gopherd: @thecrazygm final claimdrop post · Anther Golang toolkit · @howo gopherd Golang library

HiveSuite / HiveReactKit: @sagarkothari88 design system, composer, wallet, polls, and snaps — daily dev cadence on HiveDevs.

Keychain: @keychain Multichain Explorer Challenge — community contest around the multichain beta.

3Speak: Desktop watch-page redesign and multi-embed week on GitHub; @threespeak encoder network report #24.

Games: @splinterlands three new voucher cards in Praetoria · @wrestorgonline WOO Freedom Fight Series in July · @mydempire Empire Management Office live

Network Stats

Metric This week
HIVE price $0.0505
HIVE market cap ~$27.8M
HBD trading price ~$0.97 (estimate)
HBD trading market cap ~$9.2M (effective supply × peg)
CoinGecko rank #661
24h change (HIVE) +2.25%
HBD print rate 0 (no new HBD minting)
HIVE powered up (7d) 707,716 HIVE
HIVE powered down (7d) 1,908,961 HIVE
Net stake flow (7d) −1,201,245 HIVE

HBD explained: Hive Backed Dollars (HBD) are the chain’s stable token. When too much HBD sits relative to HIVE supply, the chain stops minting new HBD — that is why print rate is zero right now. About 9.4 million HBD counts toward the debt ratio after subtracting the treasury held by @hive.fund. Trading price stays near one dollar; the haircut rule only kicks in at a much higher debt level. See issue #75 for the full picture.

Powering up: @dalz published fresh power-up and power-down analytics this week — worth a read if you track where Hive Power (HP) is moving.

Governance

Witnesses remain on Hard Fork 28 (v1.28.3 for most; @good-karma on v1.28.6). @deathwing still reports v1.28.0 — worth watching.

Funded DHF proposals (5 active, above return #0):

ID Subject Daily pay
#377 HBD Stabilizer - Renewal R2-2026 12,000 HBD
#368 Retroactive: Ecosystem Operations, Bizdev and Growth 1,000 HBD
#373 Hive Keychain Development Proposal 2026 540 HBD
#360 Hive Dev Proposal #2 415 HBD
#293 Hivewatchers & Spaminator Operational 95 HBD

Change from last week: Ecency and PeakD proposals dropped below the return threshold — two fewer funded lines than issue #87.
