Ibrahim Zubairu to Return to Partizan Football Club
Ibrahim Zubairu to Return to Partizan Football Club Ibrahim Zubairu’s future at Partizan looked all but over a few months ago. Now, the “discarded” winger is suddenly back in the frame, a potential solution to a looming crisis on the flanks.
How the turnaround began
Serbian outlet Alo first framed the U‑turn bluntly: “Return: Partizan gives another chance to a discarded player.” Once marked for the exit, the 21‑year‑old Ghanaian has been reprieved after an underwhelming loan spell at Turkish side Çorum, who decided not to buy him outright when neither the promotion nor appearance clauses in his deal were met.
That decision triggers his return to Belgrade in June, with Partizan still holding his rights and now suddenly needing bodies out wide.
The wing dilemma and the market chessboard
Partizan-friendly media sketch a clear logic: the “potential departure of Demba Seck” will “increase the need” to find new wingers in the summer window, with Sylvester Jasper of Železničar Pančevo listed as a primary target. But rather than bet everything on the market, the club is turning inward to a player it already owns – Zubairu.
His loan, which brought Partizan €200,000 and included a €2 million option if Çorum won promotion or if he played at least half their matches, never took off; he logged just three appearances and 19 minutes, albeit with one assist.
A second audition, with stakes attached
Now, preparations are cast as Zubairu’s proving ground: “preparations [are] an opportunity to impose himself,” Telegraf notes, as the winger competes to show he’s raised his level and can help in European qualifiers next season.
Pro‑club voices stress that, despite the flop in Turkey, his age and “significant” market value leave room for redemption. For Partizan, this is low-risk pragmatism; for Zubairu, it’s likely the last, loud audition to avoid being truly discarded.
