Some movies I've watched. Which new ones would you recommend me? šæ
Howdy frens!š¤
Howās it going in your corner of the world? Iām keeping up with my movie-watching routine (as always), but you might askāwhat have I actually been watching lately? Well, let me share my recent movie adventures with you!
āļø A few weeks back, my husband and I watched The Thing. It had been ages since Iād seen it, and when he mentioned heād never watched it, there was no questionāwe had to do it. Watching it again was like stepping right into memory lane, reminding me of being a teenager and thinking: āThis is so yucky, so cool!ā Thereās just something about that movie that stays with you. You can scream all you want at MacReady and the others, but you know it wonāt change a thingāthe Thing is still a real menace. But somehow, thatās comforting. Simpler times, I guessāback when yelling at the screen was my only worry. It even inspired me to do an ink drawing of The Thing and (another one with my kiddos)!
š But before that, we watched Paterson by Jim Jarmusch. Heās behind some of those movies that make you think, laugh, and feel like youāve slipped into another dimension right inside your own life. I think Iām drawn to stories that celebrate the mundane, but with a strange little twist. Paterson really leans into thatāthe daily routines, the small details that make life special. Nothing fancy, but it made me appreciate the magic in everyday moments, even if it was a bit slow-paced at times.
š§āāļø We also watched 28 Years Later ⦠sigh. I have to say, I was disappointed. After waiting so long for a new instalment, it just felt like another generic zombie flick. I really wanted moreāmore about what happened, how the zombies evolved, how the world is holding up. Instead, I was left with more questions than answers. Maybe theyāre saving everything for the next one, but honestly, I wish theyād given us a bit more to go on.
š¦øāāļø And, I was pleasantly surprised by Fantastic Four: First Steps! It was fun, to the point, and very self-aware. Sometimes, you just want a summer movie that knows itās there to help you unwind. Itās a great choice for an easy Sunday afternoon.
So thatās my recent lineup, frens. Sometimes I wish I watched more wild or mind-blowing movies, but maybe just a little escape or a hint of magic in the ordinary is all we really need day to day. Now itās your turn!
What movies have you watched lately? Any recommendations for something thatāll make me feel out of this world (in a good way)?
š Let me know, and godspeed!
