personal responsibility in emotional responses.

to say the world lacks personal responsibility almost seems silly at this point because it is so deeply true in all facets of life. the covid era woke many up to the necessity and the beauty of the individual, but somehow encouraged others to dig more deeply into their caves and read the rigged tea leaves even more dogmatically.

we are at a turning point. while everything takes longer than we expect, the old world order is crumbling. it may be the first time technology and awareness have allowed us to begin to rebuild in substantial ways before the fall…, but this has yet to be seen. i am hopeful our awakening means fewer dark days ahead.

but anyway.

what blocks those still stuck in the matrix is their inability and unwillingness to take responsibility for their emotional responses. when you allow current events to hijack your stress response, it is impossible for your higher order thinking to step in and correct course. and when you have picked your side, you make it easy for the news to trigger this stress response. not to mention the modern world and the human brain clashing at such rates as to keep many in a constant state of stress..

living in stress makes it more difficult to take control of your emotional responses. and more dangerous from a social perspective. if you do rise above the knee jerk reaction of anger and elbow throwing, then you risk upsetting the social order you identify with. you risk feeling abandoned by those you crave approval from. and so taking the steps to see clearly seems unwise.

but it is possible.
and it is happening at greater rates.
more and more events are slipping from control, granting these cultural zombies more opportunities for surprise and awakening.

i think those of us capable of shaking free of our own free will have already done so. we already believe in truth, goodness, and beauty so deeply that we have found bitcoin and we have found nostr and we have found each other. the next class of freedom fighters will be harder to win and more prone to dogmatism. but if their dogmatic views can be built from the cornerstone of sovereignty, … it would be much better than the structures they sit on today. and would give us the chance to change the future in hopeful and tangible ways.

i stop short of saying magnificent, but. hopefully…

we will be able to steer the future towards the magnificent.
