When You Have Everything, It's Like Having Nothing
Destinations like Dubai and Abu Dhabi are undoubtedly something everyone wants to visit and relax in. Luxury, splendor, yachts, the most modern hotels, the center of global business, a place for the rich who have everything and who are certainly powerful people in every respect. Many of them decide the fate of millions of us on Earth. But since Israel, along with the USA, attacked Iran, and since Iran decided to retaliate fiercely against US military bases across the Middle East, and even against Israel itself, and certainly the United Arab Emirates have become one of the targets that Tehran has aimed at with its missiles, all that power and splendor of Dubai and Abu Dhabi has turned into considerable panic. Of course, it was sad to see the panicked flight through the streets of Dubai and the evacuation of Burj Khalifa. War is always a great tragedy, grayness, sadness, and hardship, and it affects everyone. It spares neither the poor nor the rich. Everything you have accumulated can turn to dust and ashes in an instant. All those who fled in panic from the loungers on the beaches and by the pools in Dubai undoubtedly had everything in life, but in just a few moments, all that they had became somewhat meaningless, because when the airspace is closed, and there are no planes to return, and when missiles fall randomly, even on the properties of the richest in the world, the wealth they have is practically worthless. I am writing all this primarily because of the fact that we should never envy someone for having more than us, nor for being materially rich, because precisely in the situations mentioned, I have shown you that all this earthly treasure of this world that you have is absolutely worthless when great war horrors begin. Until yesterday, you could buy anything and you never thought you would come to a situation of falling into the worst despair, because today you might give everything you have just to escape the war zone and save your life. During the many wars that have taken place in history, the richest knew how to give sacks of money for a sack of flour. In this way, God shows and proves to you that this earthly wealth is a relative matter, because today you have it, and tomorrow everything can disappear, and become worthless and meaningless. Just put your finger on your forehead and think about how many people in the world have acquired enormous wealth through the worst corruption, seizure, robbery, murder, drug dealing, generally, through the worst crime. Of course, some used their social positions, some achieved it directly with a gun and a bullet, but both are certainly criminal. The former somehow took from their own people, or rather from the poor, and the latter considered that force was enough to become materially rich in this earthly life. Just when you thought you had become someone and something, and afforded yourself a mini-vacation in Dubai, then missiles start whistling past the expensive hotel where you are staying. Some more powerful decided to go to war and seize foreign territories, oil fields, and other natural resources. Then you remember God and start saying that everything that is happening to you is injustice, you pray to God to save your life and you remember how you might have come to that wealth. In a way, it's the same way these powerful people who started the war are trying to do, only you did it on a micro-level, because you showed your strength to the weaker and the poor, just like the most powerful are doing today on a global level towards the weaker. I don't want to sound like some messianic righteous person, but perhaps all this that is happening to humanity is actually an attempt to return humanity to factory settings. Arrogance, seizure, robbery, oppression of the weak, all of this has become normal. International norms have been trampled, rules no longer exist, and force is considered the only means to achieve goals. Currently, the slogan is that force does not beg God, but do not forget the continuation which tells us that God does not love force either. All this is indeed a kind of trial, even God's permission, for us to re-examine our earthly arrogance, after which a return to factory settings must follow, because such lawlessness and life without any rules cannot survive. Therefore, I return to the life views of those who thought they had everything, and especially to those who happened to be on vacation in Dubai, and in that moment realized how situations can arise when you become powerless with all the wealth you have acquired. It is especially sobering for those who acquired that wealth through seizure, because the force they once used against the weaker does not help them today. Suddenly, they found themselves in a never richer environment, splendor, luxury, superb beaches, crazy hotels, and missiles were falling around them and they couldn't move from there. How much happier seems some shepherd, a poor man, who guards sheep and enjoys the beauty of some meadow with his flock, having just enough to afford to feed his family today, but he can freely walk far from the horrors of war. That extremely rich person who found himself in Dubai would give pure gold to be able to swap places with that shepherd at the moment of the shelling of Dubai. Then you put your finger on your forehead and ask - who is truly richer? We must finally, in our own minds, and above all in our souls and hearts, clarify for ourselves which values we are fighting for. For me, the ideal of a free Serbia, where I can live decently from my work, is the most sacred thing. I don't touch anyone, I don't envy anyone, I don't attack anyone, I don't look into other people's yards, but I defend my own and enjoy my freedom. I see that many are competing where to go on vacation. It's great that they can afford expensive destinations, but let them at least ask themselves if it's worth risking something like those in Dubai. Serbia is still the most beautiful, because it is ours, it has wonderful nature and great places for rest. Why throw money away on expensive destinations in these difficult times? Isn't it better to pay in our Serbia and enjoy its beauties? To be among our own, to stick together, to visit our holy places, beautiful mountains, rivers, lakes, and to inhale that breath of freedom with full lungs. Modesty is not a flaw. On the contrary, modesty is a virtue. Given the state of the world and the conflicts that are happening, Zlatibor and Kopaonik will be a mother's embrace of safety compared to the Mediterranean and all those destinations that many paid dearly for to lie there. Therefore, as the folk proverb says - pick mushrooms around your own field. I return to the beginning of the text, writing all this under the disturbing impression of the terrible war conflict that looms over the Middle East. Today, material wealth has become unimportant. We never learn that a modest person, no matter the situation, will know how to manage, because he needs little for his happiness. The extremely rich person, when they experience a shipwreck, never recovers and their life turns into hell, because they haven't learned to live happily if not in silk and velvet. Until the end of their lives, they curse God and everyone is to blame for their catastrophe, only they never manage to look at their previous life and where they might have sinned, leading to their downfall. We always thought that the one who has a villa, a "Bentley," and the chance to sunbathe in wealthy destinations is a happy person. We didn't know how to recognize the happiness that God has given us, and that is in family, modesty, in our own home, and in faith in the Lord. My heart is at ease when I have a good relationship with my neighbor, the freedom to walk wherever I want in my country, to sleep peacefully, and for there to be peace in my country. Ukraine was a country with an enormous number of extremely wealthy people. Now all that is of no use to them, because each of them would give all their material wealth for a day of peace. Serbia is an oasis of peace today, and that is our greatest wealth in today's world. That is what we must protect at all costs, so that we can experience true joys, such as our children growing up to be decent people, finishing school, getting educated, and celebrating their successes. Let's realize that humanity is increasingly entering a phase where material wealth will be less and less important, and true happiness will be if you preserve peace in the country and if you are free. Those who experienced rocket attacks in Dubai had everything, and at that moment they practically had nothing anymore. Their wealth seemed worthless.
